The Web Part editor displays. Its contents depend on the type of Web Part in use. The figure shows the Web Part editor for the Shared Documents library of a team site. Some Web Parts allow you to open their editor when the page is in edit mode by displaying a link. Others, like the Chart Web Part are very sophisticated and provide wizards for advanced configuration.

The Web Part editor is divided by categories of configurable properties. A few of these categories are available on almost every Web Part. The one you will use most commonly is Appearance

The Appearance section allows you to control the size of a Web Part, but the most common scenario is to control the appearance if the Web Part's Chrome. The options that control the appearance of the chrome are:

  • Title
  • Chrome State
  • Chrome Type

  2. Click Apply to see your changes and keep editing or OK to finish editing and close the Web Part

The Web Part now shows the updated Title.
