Common Web Parts

Content Editor - Provides similar functionality to a wiki page. It creates an are that allows WYSIWYG editing and also allows linking to HTML stored in a document library. Generally, you should only use this Web Part on Web Part pages and not on wiki or publishing pages.

Image Viewer - Allows display of an image. Like the Content Editor, you should only use this Web Part on Web Part pages and not on wiki or publishing pages as wiki and publishing pages provide alternate means of displaying images. 

List View - Allows display of the contents of a list or library. See the following for more information:

Media Web Part - A Silverlight Web Part that allows presentation of images, video, and audio files.

Picture Library Slideshow Web Part - A Web Part that displays the contents of a picture library or view as a slideshow.

Page Viewer - Allows creation of frams to display another page within a page

Chart Web Part - Advanced charting for data in SharePoint lists
